Return to Joburg and the start of this blog

HO HO HO and a bottle of rum!
Right, well, I got back to johannesburg yesterday close to noon. I have decided to take it easy this year, minimise stress, and walk a bit closer with God. Last year sucked to put it mildly. =)
So this year I am going to go a bit slower, and try walking to places.

I was welcomed back to my humble abode in melville with a stack (and I mean a STACK!) of speeding fines from november and december last year. The fines were delivered in my absence. I now have the wonderful privilege of paying a tidy R1300 in fines. (possibly more if the payment date is passed)
I guess this is a sign that I have been moving a bit fast eh?

I watched this movie - 'The Book of Eli' - yesterday and got to thinking... what does it mean to walk with the God? While I was in Cape Town at the YWAM (youth with a mission) base in muizenberg this past month the discipleship school talked about that a bit too.
Whilst I do not agree with everything in the movie I was struck by the way he read the whole bible so many times - to the point of memorizing the whole thing word for word. He didn't just read a few sentences, mull over them for a minute or two and then go about his day... he read whole books. It seemed like the Word must have been his bread in that wasteland. Who else was with him except God? Who else could he have spoken to?

Perhaps spending some time in a desert with the Word of God as our bread might be a good thing...

  1. just for the record - that should say "...to walk with God", not "to walk with THE God". :P just thinking it sounds odd.
